Share A Trip; Your Group, Your Rules

Share A Trip; Your Group, Your Rules

Some people love a group trip. It's more fun, easier to plan and cheaper per person. But they don't always want a fixed schedule where every hour is planned for them. They want to be with a group and still choose what they do.

That's why we're introducing Share a Trip by Iripe Travel and Tours. It's for people who want to explore on their own terms, on a budget.

We noticed a gap. Our regular group trips are full packages with a tour guide. Those are perfect for people who want everything planned and handled. But many travellers told us they want something in between: the safety and savings of a group, and freedom over their tours.

Share a Trip is built for that.

  • You get a group, but not a fixed itinerary. No one tells you where to be at 9am.
  • You pick your tours. Do the ones that interest you, skip the ones that don't, or do nothing at all.
  • You control your spending. Tours, food and moving around are your own choices, so you decide how much you spend beyond the trip price.
  • You still save. The apartment and the Lagos to Benin transport are shared by the group, which keeps the cost per person low.

What is Share a Trip?

Share a Trip is a Friday to Sunday weekend trip where a small group of travellers goes together and shares the main costs. You may not know the other people yet. We bring everyone together, and you travel and split costs as you go.

Each group is either 4 or 6 people. We are launching with Benin Republic for November and December 2026, with Togo, Ghana and Ivory Coast coming soon.

How is this different from our regular group trips?

Our regular group trips are full packages with a tour guide, where the itinerary is planned for you. Share a Trip is self-guided. We handle the apartment and the main transport, and you decide what to do. Want a guided, fully planned experience? Choose one of our main group trips. Want a group with flexibility? Choose Share a Trip.

  1. Pick a weekend. Choose a Friday to Sunday and a group size, 4 or 6.
  2. We bring the group together. Once your group is complete, we confirm it with you on WhatsApp.
  3. We share the details and payment information.
  4. Travel and split as you go. On the trip, you choose your own plans and share costs with the people you travel with.

Where you'll stay

Your group shares one apartment in the city center.

  • A group of 4 gets a 2-bedroom apartment.
  • A group of 6 gets a 3-bedroom apartment.

The apartment is already covered in the price. The one cost on you is electricity. When you arrive, you buy a certain amount of units. When it runs out, you top it up.

How you'll get around

This part is split in two, so here is what is covered and what isn't.

  • We pick you up in Lagos and take you to Benin Republic.
  • We take you to your hotel or apartment when you arrive.
  • At the end of the trip, we take you back and drop you off in Lagos.

Not covered, so you stay flexible
Once you're in Benin Republic, getting around is up to you. People use shared taxis, motorbike taxis (the same idea as Okada in Nigeria), and Gozem, a ride-hailing app like Uber. You pay your own fare, or split it with whoever rides with you.
